Understanding egg carton labels

I love eggs. I eat them all the time.

Recently I wrote about how the organic egg shortage is the latest reason we need to rethink our state and federal policies supporting organic production. This new infographic from Take Part helps break down what the labels on your egg carton actually mean.

Do they mean anything?

More information on the organic egg shortage (and what we can do about it) and my favorite breakfast egg recipe.

Talk about confusing isn’t it! That’s why I try to get all my eggs from the farmer’s market where I can speak to the people who raise the chickens. Otherwise I purchase those labeled as pasture-raised. There are a lot more expensive in the store but at least I know I am buying quality eggs.

Lauren, I don’t always get my eggs from farmer’s markets and good to know re “pasture-raised”!
